Summer Song Intensive
A kaDON Weekend Intensive with Eri Uchida
Hosted by Makoto Taiko, June 28–29th, Pasadena CA
Join Eri Uchida, composer and former KODO member, for a special intensive exploring her original piece, “Summer Song,” co-created with Shoji Kameda. This workshop is designed for taiko players who want to dive into the vibrant energy and rhythmic complexity of this dynamic composition.
Building on the skills developed in her Katsugi Basics: Finding Your Own Groove course and in-person workshops and classes, participants will learn how to bring “Summer Song” to life through precise technique, expressive movement, and a deep connection to the music. With Eri’s patient holistic guidance, participants will create a deeper connection between themselves and their instrument and become more expressive on the katsugi.

This intensive will assume some previous experience with katsugi technique either through Eri’s kaDON course Katsugi Basics: Finding Your Own Groove or through one of Eri’s in-person or online classes. If you have no katsugi experience and would like to sign up for this intensive, you may take Eri’s week-long Beginner Class from June 23rd – 27th if you are in the Los Angeles area. If you are not from the SoCal area you may go through her online kaDON course to qualify for this intensive.
