Born in Saitama, Japan, Kenichi Koizumi studied under Eitetsu Hayashi, a legendary taiko performer, and became a member of Eitetsu Fu-Un no Kai. In 2003, Kenichi moved to Australia to study music and joined TAIKOZ in Sydney. He learned various styles of musical expressions through touring with TAIKOZ, collaborating with orchestra and performing solo while in Australia. After returning to Japan, he expanded his solo activities and released his first album, “Samurai”. He has co-starred with various artists and is active in Japan and overseas. In recent years, he has also been composing repertoires for workshops and community taiko teams.
Kenichi is currently an instructor at Hibikus Yokohama, a Miyamoto Unosuke Shoten taiko school in Japan.
