Day 1 is open to all levels of experience with taiko and “ELEVEN.”

Day 2 will be limited to those who have experience with the structure of the piece, allowing for a deeper dive.

• Day 1 — Sowing the seeds: Basics and depths of playing taiko and introducing “ELEVEN”
• Day 2 — Germination to sprouts: “ELEVEN” Intermediate

Participants who have experience with the structure of “ELEVEN” are welcome to participate in both days. Participants from Day 1 who do not know the full structure of the piece are welcome to observe Day 2.

The baseline price is $30/hr. Day 1 will consist of about 6 hours of instruction, while Day 2 will consist of about 5 hours of instruction.

We will be hosting a kaDON Live event to help participants prepare for “ELEVEN.” This event will be open to both Ft. Wayne Cherry Blossom Festival attendees and “Roots of ELEVEN” attendees. We will also provide videos and other materials. This is optional and supplemental. Date and time to follow.

Please note that the kaDON Live session and materials are aimed at helping people who have not played “ELEVEN” before become familiar with the structure of the piece.

Lodging and food are self-organized. Please bring your own meals. There may be some time to dine at a restaurant, but we will have at most 1.5 hours for meals, so the safest option is to bring something with you. A refrigerator and microwave will be on-site for storing and re-heating.

We will be taking pre-orders that can be picked up at the retreat. Shipping charges are waived for all pre-orders, so it is a great opportunity to coordinate purchases for other members of your ensemble who do not plan to attend the workshop. We’ll send a note to registrants when the pre-order window opens.
